John Gurche

I've been very fortunate to have a four-decade career that has taken me on an exploration through the history of life on this planet. Blending art and science, I create a window for my viewers to look back through time and marvel at the fascinating creatures that have inhabited our world.

My work has appeared in more than a dozen issues of National Geographic, including five covers, and on covers for Discover, Natural History, Science, and publications worldwide. I created fifteen sculptures for the Smithsonian's Hall of Human Origins, designed the artwork for the U.S. Postal Service's 1989 dinosaur stamp issue, and produced concept and pre-production art—including a poster image—for Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park. My work is exhibited internationally and has earned a Society of Illustrators Gold Medal and two Lanzendorf PaleoArt Prizes.

I've been passionate about keeping my original art and its reproduction rights. I am now, for the first time in 40 years, offering fine art prints of my life's work to a select group of natural history institutions. We believe this is a unique opportunity for us to collaborate with museums to inspire awe and appreciation of natural history and the world around us through art. We strive to make fine art accessible to as wide a range of natural history enthusiasts as possible.
